Helen Margaret Wirkler, age 96, of Plano, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday December 21, 2020, at Prestonwood Court Assisted Living. She was born in Garnavillo on December 2, 1924, the daughter of Herbert and Irene (Kregel) Wirkler.
After graduating from high school, Helen attended the University of Northern Iowa (Iowa State Teachers College). She taught high school business education before moving on to pursue her Master’s degree at the University of Denver. Her work in business administration moved her from Des Moines, Cleveland, Los Angeles and finally to Dallas. She retired at the age of 75 in Dallas, Texas.
Helen was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, knitting, and spending time with family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings Lorna (Don) Mowat, Mary Wirkler, Margaret Wirkler and Norman Wirkler.
Helen is survived by her sister-in-law Peg Wirkler; nephews Scott (Sandy) Wirkler, Chris Wirkler; niece Beth (Jeff) English; great nephews Jamie (Angela) Wirkler, Jake (Holli) Wirkler, Trevor (Julia) English and Andrew English; and four great-great nephews and nieces.
