Anthony LeRoy Marovets, age 94, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, at the Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on February 26, 1925 at home outside of Monona, the son of Anton and Hazel (Hoffman) Marovets.
Anthony attended the country school outside of Monona and later studied radio communications in Minneapolis. In his early years, Anthony farmed outside of St. Olaf for about 10 years and then later worked as a mechanic at Rhinehart Gas Station. Anthony also performed maintenance work for Clinton Pallet. On October 1, 1959, Anthony was united in marriage with Betty Jean Winch where this union blessed the couple with 5 children. Anthony was an all-around handy man. He had the talent to fix almost any engine & machine. Anthony also took care of his wife Betty through her complications of many ailments for the better part of 7 years. Anthony enjoyed watching the Billy Graham television program and his claim to fame was meeting Johnny Cash while working at the gas station in Monona.
Anthony leaves behind his children; Deb (Dwight) Feenstra, Jeff Marovets, Jack (Kathy) Marovets, Lori (Kevin) Collins & Rod (Amy) Marovets and also Kathy Lindruff and Kevin (Molly) Berns from a previous marriage; 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty in 2002; siblings, Bennie Marovets, Margaret Koopman, Robert Marovets, Rosemary Koopman & Anna May Leas.
