Hattie Marie Carrie (Winch) Clefisch, age 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center. She was born the daughter of the late Ernest A. and the late Rebecca (Thein) Winch, December 4, 1921, near Garber.
Hattie received her education from the local country school and farmed with her family for 25 years. She also was a housekeeper and homemaker for many years. She loved flowers, taking care of Triangle Park for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, and many other crafts.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, served as president of the Ladies Aid; Guttenberg Municipal Hospital Auxiliary; Josephine Rebekah Lodge #7, served as Noble Grand; and you could find her helping at the Blood Center.
We will always remember the smell of her baking homemade bread and pies.
On May 6, 1942, Hattie was united in marriage with Harley Clefisch at St. John’s Church in Garber.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Reimer of Naples, Florida; one son, Craig Clefisch of Asbury; four grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Cherry, Tanya (Aaron) Michael, Lyndsi Clefisch and Kyle Clefisch; two great-grandchildren, Rylan and Brynleigh; one brother, Vallie Winch of Dickinson, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, one son, Gary; one brother; and four sisters.
