Andrew George, the son of Andrew Carl and Anna Marie (Cuchna) Balk was born on March 17, 1948 at home in Prairie du Chien, WI. He was baptized at St. John Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, on April 11, 1948 and made public affirmation of his baptism on May 21, 1961 at Ev. Lutheran Church of Peace in Clayton, IA. Andy died on June 1, 209 at his home in Bartlett, IL after a sudden illness. Andy graduated from the Garnavillo Community High School in 1966. He attended school at Mankato University and later transferred to Upper Iowa University where he graduated. From May 5, 1967 until March 18, 1971 he served in the United States Navy. Andy enjoyed traveling and had lived in different foreign countries before moving to Illinois. At the time of his death he was employed by McDonald Douglas Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Helen (Wayne) Barrett of Ayrshire, IA Roseann ( Rollyn) Kraus of Garnavillo, IA; Karolyn Balk of Clayton, IA and Sandra Anderson of Liberty Hill, TX; his brothers, William Balk of Cedar Rapids, IA, James Balk of Elma, IA, Roger (Shirley) Balk of Garnavillo, IA, Jeff (Lori) Balk of Spencer, IA Thomas (Glennie) Balk of Castle Rock, CO and Richard (Mindy) Balk of West Union. IA, nineteen nieces and nephews and also many great nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents
