Marvin Henry Nieland, age 81, of Marshalltown, IA formerly of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA. He was born the son of Joseph and Clara (Schmitt) Nieland on May 4, 1927 in Guttenberg Iowa.
Marvin graduated from the St. Mary’s High School and farmed for several years. Marvin served his country in the United States Army from 1955 till 1957. Marvin was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, over 40 year member of Knights of Columbus and helped organize the AMVETS. Marvin also served as Chaplin for the AMVETS.
Survivors include; two sisters, Betty (Don) Evers of Guttenberg and Darlene (Robert) Gerken of Dubuque and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents.
