Elmer L. Knudtson was born the son of Olavus and Bergelot “Belle” (Stave) Knudtson, November 13, 1914, in Gunder, Iowa. He died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center.
Elmer received his education locally and was a self employed trucker for many years. On February 19, 1938, he was united in marriage with Alverta Harbaugh in St. Olaf, Iowa. He enjoyed mechanical work especially small engines, fishing, biking, and hiking.
Those left to cherish his memory are four daughters, Bonnie Moser of Colesburg, Karen Kriesler of Guttenberg, Sandy (Jim) Kolker of Guttenberg, and Diane (Russell) Schoenauer of Waukee; one son, Dennis (Elaine) Knudtson of Grimes; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-Law, Dorothy Knudtson of Guttenberg and Lois Barry of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alverta, one son, Ronald, one grandson, Jeff Kolker, one brother, Orvin, two sisters, Myrtle Butikofer and Selma Landsgaard, and one son-in-law, Don A. Moser.
